Throughout his life, Alfredo has cultivated a variety of crops, and here in the Amazon, he decided to focus on citrus farming, which has become the farm’s main product, especially the naturally sweet oranges. A few years ago, the cultivation of açaí began, and more recently, after thorough research and dedication, we ventured into planting Amazonian Robusta coffee, with over 30 hectares of planted area. In total, Fazenda Progresso boasts more than 200 hectares of fruit farming.
In our commitment to sustainability, we carefully select eco-friendly and biodegradable materials designed to minimize environmental impact. Each item in our collection is produced under strict quality control standards, ensuring that all pieces not only meet but exceed our customers' expectations in terms of design, comfort, and durability.
Claudio Decares, Alfredo's son and equally passionate about agriculture, believes that there is no more rewarding work than agribusiness. It’s no surprise that despite having a degree in business administration and being an entrepreneur, his postgraduate studies are in agribusiness, and today, he is responsible for managing Fazenda Progresso. The love for nature has passed through generations, and all the knowledge acquired over the years is passed down from father to son and grandfather to grandson. Rafael Decares, Claudio’s son and Alfredo’s grandson, graduated in Agronomy and is the technical manager of the farm, overseeing production processes and activities.
They developed a hybrid variety between conilon and robusta, combining their best traits, resulting in a hybrid called Robustas Amazônicos. Our production spans approximately 30 hectares of planted coffee, with high harvest estimates.
Specifically developed for the Amazon region, the Robustas Amazônicos are clonal varieties. Because of this, our vegetative propagation is carried out through cutting, making it faster and easier compared to Arabica, which propagates through seeds.
Today, we have over 30 hectares of Amazonian Robusta coffee planted on our land. The production of Robustas Amazônicos in the Amazon has begun to gain recognition and its rightful importance. We were pioneers in investing in and believing in the potential of coffee in our municipality. Today, we actively participate in and provide training for small, medium, and large-scale producers who wish to invest in coffee cultivation.
Initially, the coffee sold in the region originated from outside the state because coffee grown in Amazonian soil was considered low quality, with unproductive plants, characterized by extractive and inefficient land-use agricultural practices. The evolution of coffee production in the Amazon can be demonstrated by the data we now collect from numerous families benefiting from this crop. We operate a nursery with certified and standardized seedlings.
Today, we have made it possible to cultivate more than 30 hectares of coffee in the state of Amazonas, striving daily to expand with environmental responsibility and commitment. This achievement is the result of many years of history, research, and development to ensure high-quality outcomes with this crop.
We are honored to participate in events in partnership with the state government and organizations responsible for agricultural development. Our team is highly qualified and prepared to work with coffee. We have technical supervisors and an agronomist specializing in the development of Robustas Amazônicos, overseeing fertilization, skilled harvesting, and specialized drying processes. Our coffee is backed by a detailed technical report and updated analyses, with an annual production capacity of approximately 40 tons.
