Stirring can make two or more different substances disperse among each other, so as to achieve uniform mixing; It can also speed up the heat and mass transfer process. In industrial production, the mixing operation starts from the chemical industry, and is widely used as a part of the process around food, fiber, paper, petroleum, water treatment, etc.
Stirring operations are divided into mechanical stirring and air flow stirring. Airflow agitation is the use of gas bubbles through the liquid layer to stir the liquid, or to make the bubble group rise in a dense state, and promote the convection circulation of the liquid through the so-called upward action. Compared with mechanical stirring, the stirring of liquids by the action of bubbles alone is weaker, and it is difficult to use high-viscosity liquids with a maximum of several thousand millipascals per second. However, there are no moving parts in the air flow stirring, so it is more convenient when dealing with corrosive liquids and stirring of reaction liquids under high temperature and high pressure conditions. In industrial production, most of the mixing operations are mechanical mixing, mainly mixing equipment for medium and low pressure vertical steel containers. The mixing equipment is mainly composed of three parts: the mixing device, the shaft seal and the mixing tank.
Mixing equipment has a wide range of applications in industrial production, especially in the chemical industry, where many chemical productions are more or less applied to mixing operations. Stirring equipment is used as a reactor in many occasions. For example, in the production of the three major synthetic materials, the stirring equipment is used as a reactor for about 99% of the total number of reactors. The reason why the application range of mixing equipment is so wide is that the operating conditions of the mixing equipment (such as concentration, temperature, residence time, etc.) can be controlled in a wide range, and it can adapt to diversified production.
The function of the mixing equipment is as follows: (1) to mix the materials evenly; (2) Make the gas well dispersed in the liquid phase; (3) Uniform suspension of solid particles (such as catalysts) in the liquid phase; (4) Uniformly suspend or fully emulsify another liquid phase that is immiscible; (5) Strengthen interphase mass transfer (such as absorption, etc.); (6) Strengthen heat transfer.
Mixing equipment is used in petrochemical production for material mixing, dissolution, heat transfer, vegetation suspension, polymerization reaction, preparation of catalysts, etc. For example, in the petroleum industry, the mixing, adjustment and refining of dissimilar crude oil, and the addition of additives such as tetraethyl lead to gasoline to homogenize the raw liquid or product. In chemical production, the manufacturing of styrene, ethylene, high-pressure polyethylene, polypropylene, synthetic rubber, aniline fuel and paint pigments are equipped with various types of mixing equipment.
