Mononucleotide, abbreviated as "NMN" or "β-NMN") is a nucleotide derived from ribose and nicotinamide. Like nicotinamide riboside, NMN is a derivative of niacin, and humans also have an enzyme that uses NMN to produce nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH). In mice, NMN enters cells through the small intestine within 10 min and is converted to NAD+ via the Slc12a8 NMN transporter.
