The Legacy of S.T. Lokhandwala: A Journey of Growth and Dedication The foundation of our business was laid in 1943 by Mr. Taherbhai Abdulkaderbhai Lokhandwala , who named the shop after his son, S.T. Lokhandwala . The journey began with the humble trade of scrap materials. In 1954, his son Mr. Shabbirbhai Taherbhai Lokhandwala took the reins and introduced the sale of locks, starting with a modest investment of just ₹300. His success in this venture encouraged him to expand into various hardware products. Throughout this journey, he was wholeheartedly supported by his wife, Mrs. Ashrafi Shabbir Lokhandwala. In 1965, the shop was officially registered with the government, marking a significant milestone in the business's growth. Over the years, their three sons joined the business, bringing fresh energy and vision. By 1985, with the entry of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in Surat, we became the first registered vendor , proudly holding vendor registration number 001. Later, in the late 1990s, with Reliance Industries starting operations in Surat, full responsibility of the business was passed on to the next generation: Mr. Taher Shabbir Lokhandwala Mr. Aliasger Shabbir Lokhandwala Mr. Murtaza Shabbir Lokhandwala These three sons actively began visiting various companies, building strong relationships, and gradually expanded the business. With time, the product range doubled, and S.T. Lokhandwala became known as one of the largest stockists in Surat for a wide array of hardware products. During the late 1990s, we began custom manufacturing products as per clients' drawings and specifications. This unique approach established our reputation— "If it’s not available anywhere in Surat, you’ll find it at S.T. Lokhandwala." As a result, whenever a new company or project launched in Surat, they turned to us for their supply needs. To manage growing demand, we launched a sub-branch named Ashrafi Hardware. The New Generation: A New Era In 2005, the fourth generation entered the business: Mr. Mufaddal Taher Lokhandwala Mr. Moiz Aliasger Lokhandwala Mr. Murtaza Aliasger Lokhandwala Mr. Mustafa Murtaza Lokhandwala This new generation brought fresh vision and enthusiasm. One of their first major steps was securing the distribution of Godrej products , a responsibility they have handled with dedication and drive for growth. Soon after, we launched our flagship showroom, S.T. Lokhandwala Point , built on the concept of providing everything under one roof. Each floor of the showroom is dedicated to specific product categories, making the customer experience organized and comprehensive. The Road Ahead: Going Global Today, we continue to grow and evolve. With decades of experience, trust, and innovation behind us, we are now preparing to enter the global market. Our next goal is to begin exports and deliver quality products to customers worldwide.
