Description
Desalination, the process of removing salts dissolved in water to water-like levels in their natural sources – wells and rivers – or also at the level of demineralization or complete deionization. What differs are the concentrations of salts present in salt water or salty in its origin, such as that of the sea, which contains on average 35 grams of salt in each liter, much higher than in other applications where the amount of salt is about 100 times lower than in freshwater sources.
All this high salinity concentration requires the most advanced filtration technology: Reverse Osmosis. Within existing technologies, this is the highest level of filtration available. The OR membrane acts as a physical barrier to dissolved inorganic liquids and molecules, as well as in organic molecules with a molecular weight greater than 100. On the other hand, water molecules pass through the membrane creating a purified product flow where the rejection of dissolved salts is above 99%.
