Tesselas

TESSELAS, Art in Mosaic, started in Porto Alegre/ Rio Grande do Sul/ Brazil in the year of 2003. The mosaicists Mara, Lúcia, Cynthia and Carmen got together and decided to form this group. Mixturing colours and lots of materials which give form to panels, pictures, tables, sculptures and objects, the tessarae have created personalized works allied with perception and sensitivity.

Working with martellina and tagliolo they transform pieces of marble and granite in small tesserae which are small pieces that form the mosaic. The group produces pictures in mosaic using marble, granite and semi-precious stones and besides the artistic work, each artist also adds to the work glass, flagstone and tile to produce beautiful tables, sculptures, pavements and all sorts of decorative objects.
